About The Position

University of Pittsburgh Physicians, Department of Pediatrics, Same-Day Surgery is hiring a flex full-time Physician Assistant or CRNP (ACNP) to support Same-Day Surgery at the Main and North Surgery Centers. This Monday–Friday role offers rotating 8-hour shifts from 6:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with no call or weekend requirements. The position requires a minimum of 28 hours per week, with the opportunity to flex up to 40 hours based on department staffing needs. The APP will provide outpatient pediatric perioperative care across pre-op at Same-Day Surgery Main and CHP North, PACU Phase II recovery and discharge, and the perioperative anesthesia virtual clinic. Preferred experience includes anesthesia, pain management, and nerve block knowledge. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with APPs, physicians, and support staff in a team-based environment. Sign-on bonus is eligible. Purpose: The Staff Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) and a member of the care delivery team. The Staff APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Staff APP has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Staff APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Staff APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Staff APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Staff APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession. The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes.

Requirements

CRNP: ACNP
The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required
Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required
National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing
Current BLS or ACLS certification is required
Act 33/73 Clearances will be required
Act 34 Clearance will be required
PA: A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required
Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required
Current BLS or ACLS certification is required
Act 33/73 Clearances will be required
Act 34 Clearance will be required

Nice To Haves

Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred
Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred
Anesthesia, pain management, and nerve block knowledge
