About The Position

Somerset Health Services Inc is hiring a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to help support Davidsville Family Practice. The Provider would hold an independent patient panel responsible for new, established, and acute visits, annual wellness visits; order appropriate testing, review results and manage patient conditions appropriately; manage provider in-basket messages from patients, staff, and other providers; appropriately refer patients to specialists when warranted; collaborate with supervising or collaborating physician; complete CME, licensure, and certification requirements; complete accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, messages, and review of testing results. Davidsville Family Practice is one of four primary care practice sites under Somerset Health Services. The facility is located at the Somerset/Cambria county border and is a newly built brick building just off of Rt 219. The practice is very busy and has expanded access year over year since opening. The practice has two primary care physicians and one APP. The APP reports directly to the Sr. Director of Operations for Somerset Health Services and works very closely with the two physicians in the practice. There is also an onsite Practice Manager for this location. This role contributes to UPMC’s mission of Life Changing Medicine, sets standards for the level and quality of care for the care delivery team, provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. It also establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care, and demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the healthcare profession.

Requirements

  • Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required (for CRNP)
  • National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing (for CRNP)
  • Current CPR certification is required
  • Act 34 Clearance required
  • A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required (for PA)
  • Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required (for PA)
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment
  • Handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care
  • Good clinical judgment
  • Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and lead others in application of acceptable standards of practice
  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients
  • This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN, MSN is preferred (for CRNP)
  • Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred (for CRNP)
  • BS or MS candidate is preferred (for PA)
  • Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred (for PA)
