About The Position

UPMC Central PA is hiring a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Acute Care Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) to help support UPMC Orthopaedic Specialists. This role involves 60% outpatient clinic, 35% operating room, and 5% hospital rounding. The APP will first assist during surgery, see patients in clinic, and perform procedures such as injections, preops, post ops, follow ups, and new patients. OR experience is helpful, and the subspecialty work within ortho includes general, sports medicine, and total joints. The APP will be paired one-on-one with a surgeon to help maintain their practice.

Requirements

Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): Current CPR certification is required
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): Act 33 Clearance will be required
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): Act 73 Clearance will be required

Physician Assistant (PA): A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required

Senior Level: Completion of National Certification
Senior Level: Must achieve a Solid/Strong/Good performance rating or higher on annual performance evaluation for consideration and to maintain status annually
Senior Level: Completion of an OAPP approved professional contribution within one year of hire or promotion into the position.
Senior Level: Must have department chair approval for promotion
Senior Level: ACLS or ITLS or NALS or PALS or ACLS or other certifications listed must meet AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
OAPP: If practicing in an outpatient or other non-inpatient setting, APPs can use one of the certifications above or use a business unit approved certification which is relevant, and value added to the practice setting.

Nice To Haves

Any OR experience is helpful (including rotations during school if a new grad).
BSN, MSN is preferred for CRNP.
Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred.
BS or MS candidate is preferred for PA.
Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
3+ plus years of APP experience is preferred
Senior Level: Minimum 3 years of experience or Completion of a post-graduate residency
BSN, MSN preferred for CRNP, BS or MS preferred for PA
