Requirements

  • Completion of an approved Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner program
  • National certification
  • Professional clinical experience in a clinic setting is preferred.
  • Exceptional people and communication skills

  • A no-task-too-small approach to the work.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting physicians at one of our medical locations.
  • Providing patient-focused care, actively listening to patient concerns.
  • Keeping accurate notes, obtaining a complete medical history and performing a complete physical exam.
  • Accurately recording findings.
  • Identifying patient care issues that must be addressed.
  • Collaborating with physicians to manage the acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
  • Rounding on patients at the hospital and assisting physicians in complex surgical cases.
  • Managing medical and surgical emergencies.
  • Interpreting and integrating data and ordering laboratory studies, x-rays, and other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated.
  • Reviewing lab and radiology results in consultation with the supervising physician.
  • Submitting patient health care plans and goals for periodic review and evaluation by the physician.
  • Providing prescriptions for medications.
  • Taking calls for pharmacies and assisting the MD when on-call.
  • Counseling patients and their families on health promotion, diagnosis, prognosis, and management options.
  • Recommending community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Instructing patients and authorized family members on medications and treatment instructions.
  • Educating patients.
