About The Position

NiteLines USA is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for Family Health services at the Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC) on Nellis AFB, NV. This is a 1099 contract position. The role involves providing comprehensive outpatient healthcare to eligible beneficiaries, including preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health. The provider will manage a panel of patients, conduct examinations, interpret results, and implement treatment plans. Responsibilities include managing medical emergencies, performing minor procedures, maintaining medical records, and communicating effectively with patients and healthcare teams. The position may require working various shifts or augmenting clinical support during provider absences.

Requirements

  • Graduate Physician Assistant qualified by academic and practical education to provide patient services as a physician extender under supervision of a physician.
  • Graduate of a Physician Assistant Training Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or its predecessors, and acceptable to the Surgeon General, USAF, is mandatory.
  • OR Must have successfully completed all education and training requirements leading to and graduated from an accredited national, state or military equivalent school (MSN or DNP degree) for Nurse Practitioner (Family and/ or Geriatric Specialty).
  • Hold and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification using American Heart Association or client guidelines.
  • Hold and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification using American Heart Association or client guidelines.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Committee on Certification Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
  • Have at least 24 months of experience as a Physician Assistant within the last 36 months.
  • OR Successful completion of an accredited MSN or DNP Nurse Practitioner (Family and/or Geriatric Specialty).
  • Have at least 24 months of experience as a Nurse Practitioner within the last 36 months.
  • Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA).
  • OR Must hold a Nurse Practitioner certification from either the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Have a permanent, full, and unrestricted Physician Assistant license to practice in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • OR Must have and maintain throughout course of contract, a current, active, valid, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) to practice as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) from a US jurisdiction.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of the military health care system including TRICARE health benefits.
  • Outpatient experience highly preferred though not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient health care to qualifying beneficiaries as scheduled by the Government.
  • Maintain a program of comprehensive health for the family unit, including preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.
  • Provide primary or specialty medical care with the cognizance or supervision of a physician.
  • Responsible for a regularly appointed clinic and provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems.
  • Collect and record medical and social historical data appropriate to the patient's condition.
  • Perform a general physical examination.
  • May become the primary care manager for a panel of patients, responsible for their health and wellness.
  • Examine patients, formulate differential diagnostic plans, and define and order required diagnostic testing.
  • Interpret examination findings and test results, and implement treatment plans.
  • Determine need for consultation and assist in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
  • Approve/disapprove subspecialty referrals.
  • Answer patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff.
  • Provide primary and secondary preventive maintenance care.
  • Admit inpatients as per the local MTF instructions.
  • Recognize complicated cases, initiate treatment, and refer to a higher level of medical expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provide care within ethical and legal boundaries.
  • Plan and initiate proper treatment within defined privileges and the scope of practice of the facility.
  • Identify and report situations and individual cases which have public health significance and carry out effective control measures.
  • Clearly communicate findings, diagnosis, and planned treatment regimen to other health personnel.
  • Stabilize and manage a patient in a medical or surgical emergency and/or transfer to physician care.
  • Determine appropriate means of evacuation of emergency patients, prepare patients for evacuation, and arrange for evacuation support.
  • Perform digital, local infiltration, and intercostal blocks.
  • Perform urological procedures.
  • Maintain inpatient and outpatient medical records in accordance with MTF procedures.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Effectively use appropriate communication format in addressing professional issues.
  • Provide excellent oral communication skills for patient/family education and telephone triage of patients.
  • Perform telephone and in-person assessment/evaluation, including determination of optimal time and location for patient management and follow-up care.
  • Prescribe and communicate treatment plans and patient teaching in accordance with established protocols.
  • Collect and assess significant patient history information and perform all necessary patient teaching.
  • Perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity, including telephone contacts, in accordance with requirements.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.
  • May be required to work various shifts or augment clinical provider support during the absence of other team providers due to illness, leave or deployment.
