About The Position

This position is responsible for contributing to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues, assessing patient health through interviews and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, documenting patient care, performing therapeutic procedures, instructing and counseling patients, and developing and implementing patient management plans. The role also involves maintaining a safe and clean working environment, adhering to infection-control policies, complying with legal and professional requirements, and maintaining professional knowledge through continuous education.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing and evidence of completion of an RN program and Utah State Licensure required.
  • OR Graduate of an accredited PA educational program, including National Certification and Utah State Licensure.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, medical history notes, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide simple equations.
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Able to adjust focus (vision requirement).
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions.
  • Computer knowledge with experience in basic word processing and spreadsheet programs required.
  • General office equipment and procedure knowledge required.
  • Must be able to think critically in diagnosing and treating patients.
  • Must maintain a positive “can-do” attitude.
  • Must effectively participate as a team member with the department and its practices.
  • Must protect confidential information, records, and/or reports.
  • Must communicate effectively in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must have good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and courteous service to all customers, including patients, affiliates, providers, administration, employees, co-workers, insurance company representatives, and vendor representatives.
  • Meet behavioral expectations and support the dignity of all persons, and be responsible for the stewardship of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and follow guidelines that maintain safety for oneself, patients, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Adhere to all Clinic Policies and Procedures and OSHA guidelines.
  • Contribute to physician’s effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues, providing information and commentary, recommending options, and implementing physician directives.
  • Assess patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, and obtaining, updating, and reviewing medical histories.
  • Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies.
  • Interpret test results of diagnostic tests.
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections.
  • Instruct and counsel patients by describing therapeutic regimens, giving normal growth and development information, discussing family planning, providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living, and promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Provide continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records and employee/co-worker information.
