About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with diseases and adverse health conditions following the written guidelines approved by the department. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with inpatient and/or outpatient endocrine experience is preferred. They will deliver high quality, patient centered endocrinology care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This role is primarily outpatient based, with a portion of time (approximately 1/4) dedicated to inpatient coverage. All inpatient care is provided in collaboration with, and under the supervision of, board certified endocrinologists.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies
  • State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required
  • AHA/ARC BLS certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Inpatient and/or outpatient endocrine experience is preferred
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an Endocrinology setting, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of endocrine disorders in both outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations and assessment
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans
  • Manage endocrine related medications, including but not limited to: Diabetes therapies (insulin, GLP-1 receptor agonists), Thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary disorders, Hormone replacement and management (testosterone, estrogen, cortisol)
  • Interpret diagnostic studies and data, including: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data, Laboratory testing and glucose trends, Thyroid pathology and malignancy reports
  • Participate in a structured onboarding and training program to support transition into specialty endocrinology practice
  • Perform prior authorizations, complete medication refills, and answer messages in both the outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Collaborate closely with supervising endocrinologists and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Support patient communication needs, including prescription refills, lab result review, and responding to office patient and inpatient inquiries
  • Maintain effective communication with physicians, nursing staff, administrative teams, patients, and families
