About The Position

We are seeking a Physician Assistant specializing in Neurosurgery for a Locum Tenens position in Cooperstown, NY. This role involves clinical coverage within a hospital setting, focusing on both elective surgery schedules and inpatient care. The PA will primarily handle spine surgery cases (approximately 80%) and cranial cases (approximately 20%), covering a broad neurosurgical spectrum. Support staff, including another APP for evening/weekend coverage and three full-time Neurosurgery attendings, are available on-site. The position requires proficiency with the Epic EMR system and involves first assisting in surgery, suturing wounds, wound aspirations, OR assistance, clinic evaluations, and inpatient rounding.

Requirements

• Active NY license preferred
• NCCPA Certification required
• Active DEA preferred
• BLS required
• Neurosurgery experience preferred
• Spine surgery experience highly preferred
• Comfortable assisting in OR, clinic, and inpatient settings
• Proficiency with Epic EMR

Responsibilities

• First assist in neurosurgical procedures
