NYP- Brooklyn Methodist Hospital offers a wide range of services for patients from infancy through adulthood. The department’s vision is to provide patient-centered, evidenced-based clinical care through interdisciplinary teamwork to impact our patients and the community through a highly engaged, skilled, and empathetic team. Our talented and dedicated team consists of physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists. As an Internal Medicine PA at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, you will provide comprehensive inpatient care for patients admitted to the med-surg units while supporting cross-coverage needs across various inpatient medicine services, including PM&R, Med-Psych, Inpatient 7s, and other medicine-based units as operational needs arise. Responsibilities include admissions, daily progress notes, discharges, care coordination, interdisciplinary communication, and response to acute clinical emergencies. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, teamwork, and flexibility to transition across service lines, patient populations, and coverage models. The PA will work closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, case managers, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team to support safe, coordinated, patient-centered care. This is a full-time day position and includes coverage of up to two weekends per month and holidays.

Requirements

  • Previous physician assistant experience preferred in medicine or related field
  • Bachelor's Degree Physician Assistant required
  • New York State Physician Assistant License required upon hire
  • National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required upon hire
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • NYS Infection Control certification
  • DEA and NYS Opioid Prescriber Training Certification

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience in hospital medicine, inpatient rehabilitation, Med-Psych, or other inpatient medicine services preferred
  • Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, strong communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and changing clinical environments
  • Will consider new graduates with a strong interest in inpatient medicine and rehabilitation
  • Master's Degree preferred
