About The Position

As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients. We are seeking a Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive care to gynecologic oncology patients with varying acuity and diagnoses. This role involves first assisting in the OR, conducting health history and physical assessments, performing post-operative visits, developing and managing treatment plans, discussing chemotherapy roles and side effects, evaluating patients receiving chemotherapy, managing side effects, prescribing chemotherapy, performing in-office biopsies and procedures, providing post-op wound care, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team. The role also includes being a liaison for patients transitioning from surgery to outpatient care and communicating effectively with team members, patients, and their families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program.
  • State of Wisconsin PA licensure
  • Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice
  • Active PA board certification
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.
  • Active license or eligibility to obtain active licensure in state of practice. This may include licensing in Wisconsin and other state(s) of practice.

Responsibilities

  • First assist in the OR for gynecologic oncology cases.
  • Provide comprehensive care to gynecologic oncology patients with varying acuity and diagnoses.
  • Conduct comprehensive health history and physical assessments of oncology patients with acute health issues from cancer and cancer therapies (surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy).
  • Perform post-operative visits, develop, manage and modify treatment plans.
  • Discuss role and side effects of chemotherapy with patients and their family, manage and modify chemotherapy treatment plans, and obtain chemotherapy signing privileges.
  • Evaluate patients receiving chemotherapy, manage chemotherapy side effects and prescribe chemotherapy.
  • Perform in office biopsies and procedures.
  • Provide post-op wound care.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide consistent high-quality care to our patients in active treatment or active surveillance setting.
  • Be a liaison and manage patients as they transition from surgery to outpatient care.
  • Work with a wide variety of team members including students, residents, RNs, social workers, pharmacists and care coordinators.
  • Effectively communicate with team members, patients and patients’ family members.
