About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA-C) provides clinical support to occupational health programs by assisting physicians in the evaluation, treatment, and management of employee health concerns. This role delivers patient care, supports workplace health initiatives, and provides education and counseling on occupational and preventive health matters. The successful candidate will exercise independent clinical judgment, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. This position is scheduled for 3x12-hour shifts and may include nights and weekends.

Requirements

  • Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of New Mexico.
  • Current New Mexico pharmacy license and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of recent clinical experience in occupational medicine, family medicine, emergency/urgent care medicine, internal medicine, sports medicine, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated clinical proficiency, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Availability to work 12-hour night shifts and/or weekend schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience in occupational medicine or employee health programs.
  • Experience supporting workplace injury management, return-to-work programs, and fitness-for-duty evaluations.
  • Knowledge of occupational health regulations and workplace safety practices.
  • Experience working in a large industrial, laboratory, government, or regulated healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, treat, and manage occupational and work-related health concerns in collaboration with occupational medicine physicians.
  • Conduct patient assessments, determine appropriate dispositions, and coordinate follow-up care and referrals as needed.
  • Provide employee health counseling, education, and preventive care recommendations.
  • Identify workplace health and safety issues and support efforts to improve employee well-being and occupational health outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, licensing, and organizational requirements.
