About The Position

The Physician Assistant I (Shift) serves as a provider of clinical services within the scope and practice guidelines of the State Physician Assistant Practice Act. This role involves performing clinical services including assessment, intervention, and evaluation of care. The Physician Assistant will consult and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated patient services. Documentation of services, performing necessary procedures and treatments, and recommending/ordering treatment procedures are key aspects of this position. Additionally, the role includes promoting patient wellness through education, utilizing advanced clinical knowledge to meet patient needs, participating in quality initiatives and safety functions, and assisting in identifying and ordering supplies. The Physician Assistant must remain informed and compliant with all relevant policies and procedures, maintain exemplary patient satisfaction, and participate as an engaged team member. Decision-making involves independent judgment with general review in final stages. Working relationships include direct interaction with patients, internal and external customers, other healthcare professionals, and staff, including frequent interaction with individuals at the Director level or above. Physician Assistants are Allied Health Professionals whose privileges are supervised by a physician.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from approved program in Health Science or related field
  • Graduation from a CAHEA (AMA's Committee on Allied Health, Education and Accreditation) approved program.
  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant by Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision.
  • 0-2 years related experience.
  • Understanding of healthcare delivery processes in the medical setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information.
  • Demonstrated patient care skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clinical services including assessment, intervention and evaluation of care within the scope of practice established by State Law.
  • Consults and collaborates with physicians, other health care providers, agencies to provide coordinated services to patients and their families.
  • Documents services according to established policies and procedures, including preparation of the medical record and billing documents.
  • Performs procedures and treatments as necessary, according to established protocols.
  • Recommends and orders treatment procedures as needed by the patient.
  • Promotes patient wellness by providing patient education.
  • Utilizes advanced clinical knowledge or experience to resolve patient questions and meet patient needs.
  • Participates in quality initiatives and safety functions.
  • Assists in identifying and ordering needed supplies.
  • Remains informed and compliant with current Health System, Warren Clinic, OSHA and HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Maintains exemplary patient satisfaction and participates as an engaged team member.
