Physician Assistant Fellow - Emergency Medicine - Arrowhead Regional Medical Center
About The Position
This is a 15-month rigorous Physician Assistant (PA) fellowship program in Emergency Medicine (EM) at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, founded in 2009. The program is designed to graduate competent PAs in EM and advanced procedures, modeled on guidelines from the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). The fellowship includes a 1-month part-time online onboarding boot-camp with virtual modules, CME accredited lectures, and mentorship, followed by 14 months of full-spectrum emergency medicine hands-on training. The didactic curriculum covers NCCPA CAQ-EM topics, resident-level training, professional development series, and various conferences and supplemental training resources. Rotations include on-site experiences in Anesthesia, Ultrasonography, Orthopedics, Respiratory Care, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Burn Unit, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry Emergency Department, as well as offsite rotations at San Bernardino Detention Centers, Emergency Medical Services, Street Medicine, and Diabetic Youth Camp. The program also includes the Baker to Vegas Event and wellness/professional development events. Fellows will obtain certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and the CAPA-Controlled Substance Education Course. Intentional mentorship is provided for clinical practice, professional development, and career advancement. Graduates will receive a Certificate of Program Completion, Procedure Certificates of Competency, a Milestone Project, and CME credits, preparing them to provide high-level medical care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program
- Successfully pass the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE)
- Eligible for and/or possess current CA Medical Board Physician Assistant licensure
- Eligible for and/or possess current DEA licensure
- Current certification in ACLS and BLS
- Must be fully licensed by start of program

Responsibilities
- Participate in a 15-month rigorous Emergency Medicine Fellowship program.

- Engage in professional development series, Morbidity and Mortality Conference, Vituity Spring Symposium, Vituity Partnership Conference, and SEMPA Conference.
- Utilize supplemental training resources including online modules, EM Coach board review, EMRA tool suite, and EMRAP resources.
- Obtain certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
- Complete the California Academy of Physician Associates (CAPA)-Controlled Substance Education Course (CSEC).
- Receive intentional mentorship from program faculty and senior fellows.
- Complete a Milestone Project.
- Prepare for and pass the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE).
