About The Position

This position supports the PA Program to facilitate the effective and efficient operation of the PA classroom and skills lab, working collaboratively with faculty and staff to meet the program's curricular objectives. The individual will support the PA Chairperson and staff by coordinating the skills lab environment (furniture, technology and equipment) and assisting the PA Simulation Coordinator and PA Faculty to support laboratory instruction.

Requirements

  • Must be a current MSJ Graduate Student in the School of Health Sciences, who is in Good Academic Standing without prior instance of probation or any earned Cs in prior coursework
  • Student is expected to hold the position over the course of their academic program; preference is for a 2-year commitment

  • Communicates effectively (verbal and writing), accepts responsibility for his/her actions and assigned work, completes tasks in a thorough and timely manner, works effectively as a member of team

Responsibilities

  • Meets weekly with Simulation Coordinator and PA faculty to strategize for upcoming clinical class/skills labs.
  • Collaborates with the Simulation Coordinator and PA faculty in planning of clinical lab sessions to include preparation of assignments, assessment tools, lab materials and equipment.
  • Assists PA faculty and Simulation Coordinator in developing strategies for technology integration and utilization in the classroom (e.g. Sim iQ video capture and compression).
  • Provides assistance in preparation and training of Standardized Patients, in concert with PA faculty and Simulation Coordinator, to accurately portray simulated clinical scenarios.
  • Assists in the scheduling and coordination of standardized patients, learners and evaluators to facilitate efficient, effective simulation events.
  • Conducts weekly review of classroom/skills lab set-up and materials (video equipment, supply cart and task trainers) to ensure educational objectives.
  • Coordinates, with direction of Simulation Coordinator and PA faculty, classroom/lab set-up and equipment to meet the educational objectives for the scheduled practical examination.
  • Collaborates with Simulation Coordinator to maintain program inventory and facilitate replenishment of supplies.
  • Maintains program equipment in good working order and communicates need for repair to supervisor.
  • Assists in developing processes (word documents) as needed to do his/her job more effectively and to improve the overall efficiency of the PA Program.
  • Responds to emails/requests by PA Chairperson, Simulation Coordinator and department faculty promptly.
  • Responsible for laundering of Program linens
  • Filing, typing, phone skills, data input, customer service, lab setup/cleaning, copying, media setup, word processing
  • Other duties as assigned.
