About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. This specific role will play an integral role in a five-year PCORI-funded research study evaluating two evidence-based asthma interventions in 4,100 participants. The PA will provide clinical expertise to support study operations, participant safety, and protocol implementation across a network of 25 recruitment sites. This position combines research leadership responsibilities with limited direct clinical care in the Asthma Clinic. The PA will serve as a clinical liaison to recruitment sites and the study operations committee, providing guidance on clinical treatment protocols, implementation, and study-related questions. The PA will also be a key member of the exacerbation adjudication team, ensuring the completeness of exacerbation reports, reviewing electronic medical record and patient-reported data, confirming primary outcome events. Additional responsibilities include developing and reviewing consent forms and educational materials for medical accuracy, reviewing adverse events across all sites, and finalizing network-wide safety reports. In collaboration with the study pharmacist, the PA will address prescription-related issues and participate in monthly prescription committee meetings. The PA will also provide direct patient care in the Asthma Clinic one day per week and serve as backup to the director of the Asthma Research Center for asthma-related clinical issues affecting clinic patients.
