In accordance with RNP’s Mission Statement, Philosophy of Client Care, and Code of Ethics as stated in the Personnel Policies and under the supervision of the Medical Director, diagnoses and treats substance abuse. The role involves examining clients to determine general physical condition, conducting admission physical exams to determine appropriateness for First Step Detox level of care, and performing as needed/scheduled follow-up physicals to address client-specific needs. The position requires coordination with nursing and staff for comprehensive care and disposition planning, ordering laboratory tests and evaluating data, and prescribing protocol-driven treatment plans for substance withdrawal (methadone, suboxone, benzodiazepines). The Physician Assistant/APRN will advise clients on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention, be available by phone after hours on assigned days for nursing staff questions, and refer clients to medical specialists or other practitioners for specialized treatment. Responsibilities also include reviewing client medical records for accuracy and completeness, recommending and participating in staff education and training sessions, and flexibly assisting with PTO coverage for peer providers. The role assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor and/or program director.
