About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BC/BE Anesthesiologist to join our growing practice at Marshfield Medical Center – Beaver Dam in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. The successful candidate will be part of the anesthesia team, providing medical direction to CRNAs and performing general and regional anesthesia. This role offers an excellent schedule with a week on, week off rotation. The practice involves 2-4 ORs running Monday-Thursday, with call responsibilities on weeknights and weekends, where CRNAs take first call. The case mix includes Endoscopies, ENT, General Surgery, Gynecology, OB, Ortho, Ophthalmology, Podiatry, and Pediatrics (greater than 1 year old). We encourage physicians to participate in medical education and research to contribute to our strong foundation of patient care, research, and education.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Completion of a hospital-affiliated residency/fellowship of at least 3-4 years’ duration in Anesthesia accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants not board certified at the time of application but who have completed residency within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless waived by the governing Board.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in at least 200 Anesthesia cases in the last 24 months.
  • If just completed fellowship, provide fellowship log.
  • If not applying directly out of residency, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where privileges are held showing clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • If a quality profile is not available, documentation of hospital-based clinical activity for the past 24 months is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada may be considered by the Credentials Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive management of patients of all ages rendered unconscious or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgical, obstetrical procedures.
  • Providing medical direction to CRNAs.
  • Self-performing general and regional anesthesia.
  • Involvement in medical education and research is strongly encouraged.
