About The Position

Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) at Fort Bragg, NC is seeking an expert civilian Physician (Anesthesiologist). This role offers complete clinical autonomy without the burden of private insurance billing or pre-approvals. Providers benefit from full malpractice coverage under federal employment, robust federal benefits including exceptional retirement plans, step-increase structures, up to 26 days of paid vacation, and 11 paid federal holidays. Due to it being a federal facility, providers can practice with a valid, unrestricted license from any U.S. state. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. A Relocation Incentive and Recruitment Incentive may be authorized. The salary can be up to $400,000 per year. Womack is a fully accredited 110-bed, evidenced-based regional medical center and GME facility serving Fort Liberty, the home of Airborne and Special Operations and the largest U.S. Army installation in the world. It manages several primary care practice sites and is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, offering proximity to beaches and mountains, with good access to major highways. The area boasts a pleasant climate year-round and numerous amenities including recreational facilities, educational institutions, dining, banking, and shopping.

Requirements

• Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provides contemporary regional and general anesthesia care including pediatric, geriatric patients; obstetric anesthesia; and anesthesia for all surgical specialties at the MTF in a variety of surgical patients.
• Performs the most advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures without professional direction.
• Administers anesthesia to patients whose condition poses a particular anesthetic difficulty.
• Serves as consultant for the administration of anesthesia by nurse anesthetist.
• Administers appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks in the treatment of acute and chronic pain.
• Oversees the activities of the recovery room and administers appropriate drug and respiratory therapy in the recovery room setting.
• Serves as adjunct faculty of the U.S. Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing Phase II.
• Responsible for the nursing anesthesia staff and nursing anesthesia students.
• Supervises, teaches, and counsels medical students, resident physicians, and dental fellows rotating through the Anesthesiology Service in the proper administration of anesthesia.
• Assumes a teaching role in the student anesthetist program.
• Helps direct and administrate the responsibilities of the Anesthesia and Operative Services.
• Coordinates the Operating Room Services with physicians, nurses and technicians.
