The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) is searching for a board-eligible or board-certified physician in psychiatry to work part-time on site at the Allen-Oakwood Correctional Institution (AOCI). The selected psychiatrist will treat a caseload of male patients alongside a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner as part of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary treatment team. The selected psychiatrist will have clinical support from a central advanced practice provider leadership team, to include a state psychiatry director and assistant state psychiatry director. This role offers a good work-life balance within the OSP correctional healthcare team. The position involves administering treatment for behavioral health patients, documenting in an electronic health record system, conducting exams, writing evaluations and reports, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, managing medication, and making referrals for specialized care. Duties also include performing in accordance with scope of practice, ODRC policies, procedures, protocols, and American Correctional Association standards, participating in continuous quality improvement meetings, and providing or sharing responsibilities of institutional 24-hour on-call as needed. Collaborative agreements may also be part of the role.
