About The Position

This is a part-time position for a Physical Therapy Youth Apprentice. The apprentice will observe and assist in the department or unit to gain knowledge of roles within the healthcare environment and determine career path options while in high school. The position requires at least 450 hours between the start date and the end of May 2027. The apprentice will also be responsible for maintaining and ordering stock, cleaning equipment and work areas, completing various errands, performing general clerical functions, developing academic and technical skills, and interacting with the community, Aurora employees, and patients.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in high school and working through a state or school sponsored apprenticeship or training program.
• Demonstrates basic academic skills.
• Applies critical thinking and information processing skills appropriately.
• Uses effective personal and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Observes and assists the department or unit to gain knowledge of roles within the healthcare environment to determine career path options while in high school.
• Maintains and orders stock for department or unit.
• Cleans equipment and work areas.
• Completes various errands as directed, including pick-up and delivery of trays, specimens, reports, etc.
• Performs general clerical functions as assigned.
• Develops academic and technical skills, and effective communication skills in areas of interest.
• Responsible for interacting with the community, Aurora employees, and patients.
