About The Position
The Physical Therapy Tech prepares patients and equipment for therapy, including obtaining supplies from storage area and positioning them approximately for use. Assists therapists in monitoring of proper performance of exercises, assists with modalities as directed by therapist. Reports directly to the Director of Physical Medicine.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Prior experience or interest in a rehabilitation field.
- CPR certification.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English.
- Ability to communicate well with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
- On the job training in basic rehabilitation and transfer techniques.
Responsibilities
- Prepares patients and equipment for therapy, including obtaining supplies from storage area and positioning them approximately for use.
- Assists therapists in administering treatments including assisting with transfers or ambulation and gait training to prevent falls.
- Assists with direct patient care relative to patient's age, culture, and condition under the supervision of the licensed therapist.
- Transfers and transports patients in a safe and timely manner.
- Communicates verbally with therapists, assistants, students and other aides to maintain efficient workflow.
