About The Position

MercyOne Home Care is seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our home health team in Mason City. In this role, you will provide hands-on physical therapy services to patients in their homes under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. You'll help patients improve mobility, restore function, and maintain independence while building meaningful relationships with patients and their families.

Requirements

Associate degree from a Physical Therapist Assistant program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
Minimum of six months of experience working under the supervision of a qualified Physical Therapist.
Current valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong communication and documentation skills.

Previous home health experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver physical therapy services according to physician orders and the Physical Therapist's plan of care.
Implement treatment programs developed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
Provide direct patient care and therapeutic interventions in the home setting.
Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, mobility techniques, and the use of adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, braces, and other assistive devices.
Monitor patient progress and report changes in condition to the Physical Therapist, physician, RN, or leadership team.
Document treatments, observations, and patient responses accurately and timely using the electronic medical record system.
Collaborate closely with therapists, nurses, and other care team members to ensure high-quality patient care.
Participate in care conferences and patient care planning meetings as appropriate.
Provide ongoing encouragement and support to patients and families throughout their care journey.
