About The Position

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) will treat patients as directed by the Physical Therapist (PT), record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per PT Board, and assist in maintaining the department. This role involves participating in Patient Care and Rehabilitation Conferences, assisting with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area, and treating patients according to the physician's treatment plan. The PTA will also assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides, communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, and participate in in-service training programs for other staff. Responsibilities include recording treatment changes per policy, instructing patient families or nursing staff in maintenance programs, and caregiver training in preparation for discharge. Additionally, the PTA must report any problems with department equipment to ensure it is maintained in good working order. The position requires the ability to relate positively and effectively with patients, families, staff, and colleagues. This is not a supervisory position.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Staff Physical Therapy Assistant Board of the States.
  • Proficient in computer skills such as inputting data into programs such as Casamba and Point Click Care.
  • Ability to read technical procedures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers and families.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state.
  • Employee must meet continue education requirements per state practices.
  • Must maintain a license in good standing at all time with the state board.
