About The Position

The Physical Therapy Assistant performs selected procedures and provides services in compliance with regulations governing the practice of physical therapy. Under the direction of a licensed physical therapist who has evaluated the patient and developed a plan of care, the assistant considers each patient's chronological and developmental age throughout treatment. This is a full-time, day-shift position at Carilion Clinic's CRCH Rehab facility in Lexington, Virginia, and is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
Physical Therapist license required to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care based on the therapist's evaluation and plan of care.
Implement treatment programs and assist with treatment changes in goals, considering patients' ages and developmental levels.
Coordinate patient care and clinical activities through written and verbal communication with patients, families, therapists, Clinical Team Leaders, managers, and other health care team members.
Document care in patients' medical records and complete patient-care-related forms in compliance with regulatory requirements and department and hospital policies and procedures.
Supervise and collaborate with support staff, volunteers, and students to support efficient clinical activity and quality patient care.
Participate in patient-care and department or professional activities as requested or assigned, including in-services, performance improvement, program development and evaluation, new employee orientation, committee membership, peer review, and staff meetings.
