Under the guidance and direction of a Physical Therapist a Physical Therapy Assistant assists the Therapist with therapeutic exercises, training or treatment plans to return the patient to a normal pattern of movement and functioning as possible. Works with patients from pediatric to geriatric ages who are referred for medical and educational services. The primary functions are to perform patient related activities, including delegated procedures that are commensurate with educational skill and training. Responsible for communication of care to physical therapy staff or others to evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, or coordinating treatment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • No prior experience required
  • Good clinical expertise, communication skills, human relations skills and organizational skills required
  • Self-motivated individual who can work independently with little direct supervision required
  • Has demonstrated interest in professional growth by attendance at continuing education workshops, and applications of new principles and/or techniques
  • License for Physical Therapy Assistant active in the state of Missouri
