About The Position

Provides treatment according to a plan developed by and under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, maintains communication with the physical therapist regarding patient plan of care, documents appropriately and maintains their own statistics.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree
  • Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) License/Certification Issuing Agency: NYS/Department of Education
  • Current member of the APTA

Responsibilities

  • Implements treatment programs to assigned patients, based on the treatment plan established by the physical therapist.
  • Assumes responsibility for all documentation requirements in a timely manner.
  • Provides feedback to the physical therapist on a regular basis, indicating the patient's progress in treatment.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines as needed.
  • Pro-actively alerts physical therapist regarding changes in patient condition.
  • Recommends appropriate durable medical equipment in coordination with appropriate team members.
  • Participates in discharge planning, makes recommendations in discussion with physical therapist for continued physical therapy.
  • Attends all appropriate conferences, rounds, in-services and meetings.
  • Attends clinics as assigned.
  • Participates in supervision of PTA students on clinical affiliations.
  • Must be a current member of the APTA.
  • Must follow all MSH policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
