About The Position

Futures Recovery Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our multidisciplinary treatment team. Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the PTA will assist in implementing individualized treatment plans for patients recovering from substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, chronic pain, mobility limitations, and other physical impairments. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, dependable, and committed to supporting individuals through both physical rehabilitation and overall recovery.

Requirements

  • Current licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the State of Florida.
  • Graduation from an APTA-approved two-year PTA program or equivalent qualifying experience with successful completion of the U.S. Public Health Service proficiency examination (if qualified prior to December 31, 1977).
  • Strong communication skills, active listening ability, and excellent patient assessment skills.
  • Calm, reassuring, and compassionate demeanor with the ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.
  • Commitment to delivering care with compassion, excellence, professionalism, and reliability.
  • CPR certification preferred or required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year of experience working under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist preferred.
  • Experience in rehabilitation, behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, or skilled nursing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Physical Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans and delivering therapeutic exercises, mobility training, balance activities, and functional rehabilitation programs.
  • Provide treatments, tests, patient education, and appropriate interventions as delegated by a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Monitor, document, and report patient progress, responses, and performance accurately and timely.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care planning alongside nursing, clinical, and behavioral health teams.
  • Educate patients on wellness, injury prevention, posture, safe movement, and therapeutic techniques.
  • Support patients with compassion, professionalism, and adherence to safety and confidentiality standards.
  • Maintain treatment areas and equipment while ensuring compliance with Florida practice guidelines and facility policies.
  • Observe and report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Help patients attain or maintain independence, comfort, mobility, and dignity throughout their care journey.
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging environment for individuals in recovery.
