Requirements
- Associate's Degree Physical Therapy Assistant (Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) approved PTA program).
- Current and valid NYS Physical Therapy Assistant license and registration or limited permit.
- Current and valid BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association, required.
- Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Nice To Haves
- 1- 2 years Hospital (Inpatient) or Orthopedic (Outpatient) Rehabilitation setting.
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient, family, and clinician education regarding the patient's functional status and plan of care.
- Implements appropriate interventions/treatment as indicated by the patient's functional status, diagnosis, and age in conjunction with the supervising therapists established plan of care.
- Monitors patient response to treatment and modifies the plan of care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
- Interacts and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes and health care goals.
- Provides clinical supervision to Rehabilitation Aides.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation reflecting the interventions and education provided, interdisciplinary communication, and plan of care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
