Under the supervision of the Physical Therapist, this role initiates individual physical therapy treatment plans for residents in a variety of settings. The Physical Therapy Assistant delivers treatments and modalities per physician’s orders, plans services within each patient’s capabilities, and reviews daily schedules. This position also supervises care given by Therapy Tech/Aide, collaborates with physician and nursing staff, and observes and evaluates treatment effects, making recommendations for changes as needed. Accurate and timely recording of treatment effects, maintenance of patient treatment records, and completion of discharge summaries are key responsibilities. The role involves directing and/or conducting training for residents, staff, and students, and maintaining department policies regarding safety, infection control, and quality improvement. Additionally, the Physical Therapy Assistant assists in identifying the need for adaptive equipment, participates in discharge planning, and instructs residents and family members on care and equipment use. Compliance with all Morningside Ministries policies, federal and state laws, and agency regulatory guidelines is required. The role emphasizes teamwork, strong working relationships with co-workers, and performing general office tasks and special assignments as needed.
