About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Physical Therapy has an exciting opportunity for a full time Physical Therapist Assistant 4 to work in Miami, FL. The Physical Therapy Assistant 4 provides expert-level support in rehabilitation services. The incumbent collaborates with healthcare teams, leads departmental initiatives, and oversees lower-level assistants. This role demonstrates high-level knowledge and leadership in patient care, staff development, and quality improvement, ensuring safe and effective care.

Requirements

  • Valid State of Florida Physical Therapy Assistant license required
  • Associate Degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience
  • Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant program approved by the APTA
  • Holds a current state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant
  • 15 years of experience as a PTA, some prior leadership responsibility is preferred.
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the evaluation of new patients, establishment of goals, and development of appropriate treatment plans.
  • Oversees therapeutic activities and ensures consistency in care delivery across staff.
  • Documents all evaluations, treatments, and other pertinent patient interactions.
  • Provides relevant information to patients and families regarding medical conditions and gives them instructions for conducting home activities.
  • Communicates with physicians and their staff to obtain necessary information and suggests revisions in treatment.
  • Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis and real clinic need.
  • Participates in quality and safety improvement activities.
  • Supervises and mentors Physical Therapy Assistant staff across all levels.
  • Contributes to clinical program development and departmental initiatives.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal, local, and state guidelines and regulations.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • All duties and functions of a PTA 1, 2, and 3.
  • Completion of 150 hours of live CEUs in relevant specialty area.
  • Serve as a clinic instructor to PTA students as needed.
  • Meet or exceed established productivity standards
  • Served the departmental team with higher level responsibilities such as a floor anchor, mentor, trainer, or other role to improve staff performance and quality.
  • Support the institution through participation in service events.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
