About The Position

The Physical Therapy Aide in an outpatient orthopedic setting is a pre-licensure or newly graduated clinician participating in a structured mentorship and training program. This role focuses on developing advanced skills in orthopedic evaluation, manual therapy, movement analysis, and evidence-based treatment under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, in accordance with Virginia regulations. The aide will progressively build independence while delivering high-quality care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions, post-operative needs, and functional limitations. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program (or final-term student)
  • Eligible for Virginia licensure (or actively pursuing)
  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong interest in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation
  • Excellent communication and patient engagement skills

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical rotations in outpatient orthopedics
  • Exposure to manual therapy techniques
  • Interest in sports rehab, return-to-play, or performance training
  • Familiarity with EMR systems

Responsibilities

  • Assist with and progressively perform orthopedic evaluations under direct supervision
  • Deliver individualized treatment plans for conditions including: Post-operative rehabilitation (e.g., joint replacements, ACL repairs), Sports injuries, Spine conditions (neck and low back pain), General orthopedic dysfunction
  • Perform and learn hands-on techniques such as: Manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, therapeutic exercise progression
  • Analyze movement patterns, posture, and biomechanics
  • Educate patients on injury prevention, recovery timelines, and home exercise programs
