Position Summary: To provide direct physical therapy services in the area of gross motor development to infants, toddlers, and families in natural environments, through in person visits or Telehealth services. Services are delivered using a family-centered coaching approach to support caregiver capacity and child participation in everyday routines and activities. This position is not responsible for conducting multidisciplinary evaluations or determining eligibility unless specifically assigned.

Requirements

  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Texas required.
  • Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
  • Experience working with children and families and persons of different cultures.
  • Knowledge of the physical and psychological development of children.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel within the assigned service area and maintain a valid driver's license and automobile insurance, if driving a personal vehicle.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Flexible, able to work well under pressure and handle crisis situations.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and kneel as necessary to fulfill daily duties assigned.
  • Ability to effectively/clearly communicate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical therapy services to eligible ECI children and families to promote the acquisition of gross motor skills.
  • Provide family-centered coaching and support to caregivers to promote the child's participation and development during everyday routines and activities.
  • Recommend and support the use of adaptive equipment and refer children to other medical services, such as orthopedists, neurologists, and other specialists, as appropriate.
  • Recommend educational material and activities to assist parents in implementing appropriate gross motor therapy techniques.
  • Maintain professional licensure and complete all required continuing education and agency training requirements.
  • Deliver at least 85% of planned direct services.
  • Deliver initial service within 28 days from IFSP date.
  • Complete service documentation, progress notes, and all required program records on a daily basis and within established agency timelines, including submission within 24 hours of service delivery.
  • Meet agency and program deadlines.
  • Other assignments may be added as needed or required.
