About The Position

Logan Regional Medical Center, a 132-bed facility in southern West Virginia, is seeking a Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist will evaluate and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs, provide educational information to patients on injury prevention, ergonomics, restorative therapy, and rehabilitation therapy. This role involves supervising physical therapy assistants and aides, coordinating care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with complex medical needs affecting mobility and daily living activities. The Physical Therapist is a key member of an interdisciplinary team, responsible for assessing patient needs, implementing appropriate treatments, coordinating patient and family education, and collaborating with the team to achieve optimal functional outcomes. Responsibilities also include participating in the hospital and departmental Performance Improvement Plan, assisting in program development, and contributing to the cost-effectiveness of services.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a School of Physical Therapy.
  • Current licensure in West Virginia as a Physical Therapist.
  • BLS required within 30 days of hire.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Well-developed plan for meeting patient needs.
  • Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and is competent in the practice of physical therapy.
  • Demonstrates competency in utilizing necessary physical agents and modalities to deliver care to the young adult through geriatric patient population.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with administrative staff as well as patients and families, in an assertive, professional manner.
  • Good general health and stress coping ability.
  • Full mobility and ability to participate in normal activity.
  • Demonstrates ability to speak and hear to communicate with patients, physicians, hospital personnel and the public.
  • Near vision acuity for accurate reading and ability to inspect and analyze work.
  • Able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds.
  • Able to bend, stoop and stretch with minimal physical limitation.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.
  • Provides educational information to patients regarding injury prevention, ergonomics, restorative therapy, and rehabilitation therapy.
  • Supervises physical therapy assistants and aides in performing treatment.
  • Coordinates the physical therapy care for the patient population of primarily adolescent, adult and geriatric persons who are acutely ill and have medically complex needs, which result in mobility and activities of daily living deficits.
  • Accurately assesses the patients' needs; identify and implement appropriate physical therapy treatment.
  • Coordinate and/or provide patient and family teaching.
  • Work in collaborative association with the interdisciplinary team to provide timely, safe, and cost-effective treatment to achieve the optimal functional outcome.
  • Participating in the hospital and departmental Performance Improvement Plan.
  • Assisting in program development activities.
  • Contributing to the cost effectiveness of services and programs of the Therapy Department.
