About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Part Time Physical Therapist to join our team of medical professionals in the Pima County Detention Center in Tucson, AZ. Pay rates range from $63.00 - $66.50 per hour based on shift, site needs, hire status, and experience. As a Correctional Physical Therapist, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the incarcerated individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have a variety of duties to keep you engaged. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical and dental needs.

Requirements

  • Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted Physical Therapist license in the state where you are practicing
  • Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA required)
  • Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and logical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, compassion, and attentiveness are necessary for interacting with staff, patients, and other healthcare professionals
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with physical impairments or injuries using various techniques, including exercise, manual therapy, and modalities, to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function.
  • Conducting physical examinations to assess patients' range of motion, strength, balance, and coordination
  • Reviewing medical histories and imaging results
  • Identifying and diagnosing underlying physical conditions
  • Developing individualized treatment plans based on patients' specific needs
  • Educating patients on proper exercise techniques and self-care strategies
  • Tracking patients' progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists
  • Provide documentation and maintain patient records
  • Adhering to ethical and legal standards
  • Keeping updated on the latest research and advancements in physical therapy
