About The Position

Provides direct patient care to home care or home health patients in their homes according to physician orders. The role includes assessment, evaluation, treatment planning and implementation, and instruction or supervision of physical therapy practice. The Sullivan Intermittent Home Care Department serves patients in Sullivan, Missouri, and nearby counties as part of BJC Home Care Services’ multidisciplinary home care network.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with typical business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role includes a holiday and weekend rotation for emergency purposes, but no on-call requirement. Community travel is required within Sullivan, Missouri, and BJC service areas; mileage is reimbursed at the IRS standard rate.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.
• Valid driver's license.
• Physical Therapist license.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and assist patients with physical activities and the use of assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
• Instruct patients and their families in treatment procedures.
• Re-evaluate patients and adapt treatment programs to achieve maximum benefit.
• Consult with physicians and other practitioners to obtain information, suggest treatment-plan revisions, and integrate physical therapy with other aspects of patient care.
• Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices, and recommend modifications to an orthotist.
