About The Position

Nemours Children’s Health is hiring a Full-Time, Physical Therapist to join our team in Milford, Delaware. This is a great opportunity to grow your career and join a dynamic team in our multi-disciplinary clinic shared with Nemours Specialty and Primary Care. We provide evaluation and treatment for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses including post-op, sports injuries, and neurodevelopmental disorders, and ranging in age from birth to 18. We are also an early intervention partner with Birth to Three program, providing clinic-based services.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy or its equivalent from an CAPTE accredited university required. Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) is entry-level.
  • Minimum of three (3) to six (6) months experience required. New graduates will be considered based on educational experiences.
  • State of Delaware Physical Therapist License or provisional/temporary license required upon hire. Compact licensure is acceptable for primary and secondary licensure when the practitioner is eligible and maintains an active home-state license in a Compact state.
  • All clinical staff are required to hold a second license in Maryland (in addition to DE license). Must submit license or proof of application submission within 2 weeks of job acceptance, but this second license is not required to be active at the start of employment.
  • Pennsylvania clearances are required upon hire for those with a Pennsylvania license.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required within 6 months of date of hire and must be maintained for duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Member of professional specialty organizations (APTA, state PT association) preferred.
  • Pediatric experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides physical therapy patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competency in pediatric physical therapy as per department clinical competencies.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all patients birth-18
  • Able to provide physical therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
  • Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
  • Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
  • Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
  • Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
