About The Position

A.Patient Care 1.Demonstrates skill and accuracy in performing patient evaluations, conducts tests and measurements of muscles, nerves, joints, skeletal system, developmental stages, etc for all age categories throughout the lifespan of newborn pediatric to geriatric. Interprets results within professional abilities 2.Ensure delivery of quality physical therapy programs to meet the patient care needs. Identify patient needs and formulate realistic and appropriate individualized short and long-term treatment goals, in collaboration with the patient. 3.Regularly assesses or re-evaluates patient’s progress and therapy program and makes changes in the plan of care in accordance with guidelines. 4.Demonstrates proper and efficient use of department equipment and machines, administers safe and effective modality treatments, and administers and delegates manual therapy procedures appropriately and correctly including massage, soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and myofascial release. 5.Instructs patients in proper and safe transfer and gait training techniques including the use of wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, canes. Assesses need for and instructs patients in appropriate use of braces and prosthetic/orthotic devices. 6.Prepares written documentation in patient charts in accordance with department policy (evals, re-evals, d/c summaries, progress notes, daily notes with charges, prescriptions, and patient status reports). 7.Instruct patient and family members in home exercise programs and discharge planning as appropriate. 8.Consistently demonstrates a complete knowledge of body mechanics to avoid injury to self or patients. 9.Regularly provides supervision and direction for physical therapy assistants and rehab technicians. Delegates appropriate treatment programs to these staff members in accordance with state regulations and department policies; discuss the goals with other staff members who may be involved in treatment. 10.Supervise students, volunteers, and new employees as required by the department. 11.Conducts or assigns in-service programs for medical or nursing personnel in physical therapy techniques and objectives, body mechanics, etc. as needed. B.Technical and Clerical Duties 1.Assists in other work as required by the department between procedures and therapist assigned duties such as filing, typing, and clerical duties. 2.As required, assists in the ordering of supplies and all necessary equipment. 3.Demonstrates a cost conscious attitude in the ordering and usage of department equipment and supplies. Requirements

  • Current North Carolina PT license
  • CPR
