About The Position

Advanced Houston Specialty Hospital is looking for a Physical Therapist to join their team of health care professionals in their newly renovated facility. This role involves providing top-tier medical and security services to a justice-involved population. The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing rehabilitative treatment programs for incarcerated individuals with physical impairments, injuries, or functional limitations. This role supports patient recovery, mobility, and independence while ensuring care is delivered safely, ethically, and in compliance with correctional healthcare standards, policies, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy.
  • Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience in a hospital or correctional healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, or functional limitations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve strength, mobility, pain management, and functional independence.
  • Provide therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, gait training, and other interventions as clinically appropriate.
  • Educate patients on safe movement, injury prevention, adaptive techniques, and home exercise programs.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare staff to ensure coordinated care.
  • Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with facility policies and legal requirements.
  • Monitor patient response to therapy and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to correctional staff regarding inmate safety, body mechanics, and injury prevention.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and security procedures within the correctional environment.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
