About The Position

Provides therapy to patients based on patient needs and medical direction, educates patients and caregivers, and arranges adaptive equipment as needed. The role primarily serves pediatric patients, with opportunities to work with other patient populations if desired. The schedule is 40 hours per week, with hours between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. or 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The position is based at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA in Niles, Michigan.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited physical therapy program.
• Physical Therapist license for the State of Michigan upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days, or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree.
• Six months of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients to assess disability within the scope of practice, establish goals and treatment plans, and make appropriate recommendations.
• Provide treatment and education to restore and maximize patient function; assess effectiveness and modify goals or treatment methods as patient needs change.
• Document patient evaluations and treatment in accordance with department, medical-legal, and reimbursement standards.
• Instruct and train rehabilitation staff, nursing staff, other medical personnel, and students regarding patient needs and rehabilitation services.
• Participate in process improvement, patient satisfaction initiatives, program development, and marketing activities.
• Meet department productivity standards.
• Develop skills by applying continuing education, participating in relevant competencies, and learning new patient-care concepts and skills for different population groups.
• Educate patients and caregivers and arrange adaptive equipment as needed.
