About The Position

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital’s [U18] Sports Medicine therapy program was developed to meet the unique needs of the pediatric and adolescent population for sports injuries and prevention. We provide one-on-one individualized care with highly experienced orthopedic and sports certified physical therapists in four outpatient locations in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Evaluates and treats patient populations for physical therapy needs.

Requirements

Accredited Program: Physical Therapy (Required)
BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE), BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS)
Physical Therapist License (PT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
No prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

Designs and implements a plan of care which is appropriate to issues identified, required frequency of treatments, and involves the patient and family.
Supervises activities of physical therapy assistants, students and other support personnel.
Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
Educates and counsels patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress.
Provides information regarding appropriate selection and use of adaptive equipment and support resources.
Plans or assists with patient discharge from therapy services.
