About The Position

Provides therapy to patients based on patient need and medical direction. Provides patient and caregiver education and arranges for adaptive equipment as needed. The Physical Therapist evaluates patients, develops and delivers treatment programs, documents care, and supports rehabilitation staff, nursing, medical personnel, and students. The role also contributes to improvement initiatives, patient satisfaction, program development, and marketing activities while meeting department productivity standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited physical therapy program.
• Physical Therapist license in the State of Michigan upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days, or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree.
• Six months of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients to assess the level of disability, establish treatment goals and plans within the scope of practice, and make appropriate recommendations.
• Provide treatment and education to restore and maximize patient function; assess treatment effectiveness and modify goals or methods as needed.
• Document each patient’s evaluation and treatment in compliance with department, medical-legal, and reimbursement standards.
• Instruct and train rehabilitation staff, nursing staff, other medical personnel, and students regarding patient needs and rehabilitation services.
• Participate in process improvement, patient satisfaction initiatives, program development, and marketing activities.
• Meet productivity standards established by the department.
• Apply continuing education and in-service learning, participate in relevant competencies, and develop patient-care concepts and skills for various population groups.
• Educate patients and caregivers and arrange adaptive equipment as needed.
