The outpatient therapy team plays a critical role in supporting patient care by providing therapy evaluations and treatments to a wide variety of patients in the Adirondack Region.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
  • An active New York State Physical Therapist license (or eligibility to get one) and a passed state exam
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) (or obtained at time of hire)
  • A valid NYS Driver's License.
  • Solid understanding of physical therapy treatments and medical terminology.
  • Ability to evaluate clinical data and create clear recovery goals.
  • Confidence to make independent decisions.
  • Warm, clear style for explaining evaluation results to families.
  • Skill to instruct patients of all ages on safe movement and exercises.
  • Experience using computers and standard office or clinical documentation software.

Responsibilities

  • Assess Patients: Evaluate patients of all ages, get to know their specific needs, and partner with them and their families to set realistic goals.
  • Provide Hands-On Therapy: Run treatments using targeted exercises and specialized equipment, adjusting your approach on the fly based on how the patient is progressing.
  • Keep the Team in the Loop: Write up clear, timely progress notes and discharge summaries, and collaborate directly with doctors and nurses on care plans.
  • Educate and Guide: Teach patients and families about their recovery process so they feel confident and safe managing their health.
  • Mentor Others: Help supervise PT students, aides, and volunteers, and share your knowledge with the rest of the therapy team.
