About The Position

As our Physical Therapist, you will help patients rebuild or maintain their physical wellbeing so they can function at their best level, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life. Every day you will perform initial evaluations, develop and update individualized plans of care, and provide a variety of direct treatments. You will be expected to consistently meet patient care productivity standards, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and families, and promote a positive customer service environment. To be successful in this role, you must possess strong age-appropriate competency skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative, patient-centered approach to care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial evaluations, develop and update individualized plans of care, and provide a variety of direct treatments.
  • Meet patient care productivity standards.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and families.
  • Promote a positive customer service environment.
  • Complete evaluations according to department protocol within 48 hours of initiation, ensuring all relevant areas are thoroughly completed and appropriate goals are set relative to the patient's prior level of function. The treatment plan should be relevant to the patient's identified problems, with patient/family participation in the plan and goal setting.
  • Implement effective and adequate treatment following department guidelines, with ongoing assessment of effectiveness. Modify goals and treatment as appropriate, select appropriate interventions, utilize specialized techniques, address patient safety, recommend/obtain equipment as needed, and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles over the patient's lifespan.
  • Address patient/family education using a variety of appropriate teaching methods, ensuring education is timely and comprehensive, including safety aspects. Document patient/family performance and indicate the need for follow-up.
  • Comply with department policy regarding documentation, completing it in a timely, concise, legible manner with correct grammar, medical terminology, and approved abbreviations. Documentation should reflect all interventions, ongoing assessment of treatment effectiveness, changes in goals/plan, quality improvement indicators, and interdisciplinary teamwork. Complete timecards, productivity logs, billing, and other departmental logs per policy.
  • Appropriately communicate treatment plan and patient status with the team and MD with no more than 1 complaint per year. Participate in team conferences. Verify payor guidelines/authorization in a timely manner. Attempt to contact MD with patient concerns or changes in status promptly. Solicit feedback from MD and coworkers to improve teamwork and collaboration, with no more than 1 valid complaint per year and no more than two complaints of the same nature per year.
