This role is contingent/PRN. The Physical Therapist evaluates pediatric and select adult patients for physical therapy due to injury or disease and administers treatment. They fabricate or recommend adaptive equipment and splints, document evaluation results or patient progress, and provide patient and family education. The therapist develops and administers therapeutic treatment to patients with developmental delay or functional deficits to provide optimal development, function, and independence. They utilize developmental activities, modalities, and other treatment techniques to meet each patient’s specific needs and achieve therapy goals, observing and modifying the treatment plan accordingly. Documentation is maintained as appropriate and in compliance with requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations. Administrative functions of individual caseload, including scheduling, entering daily charges, and submitting timely documentation are also managed. The therapist educates on treatment goals and therapy plans, instructs on therapeutic activities to follow at home, and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding. They fabricate, recommend, or provide adaptive equipment, splints, or casts to maintain functional body joint positions, restrict muscle contractures, prevent deformities, and improve function or mobility, fitting the patient and instructing on use of the item. Patients with varied diagnoses are evaluated to determine developmental or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations. Patient strengths and deficits are identified, goals are established, and an individualized treatment plan is developed.
