About The Position

Evaluates and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs. Supervises physical therapy assistants and aides in performing treatment. The position is in the Rehabilitation department at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and is listed as full time at 0.9 FTE (72 hours per pay period), with work hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and one weekend requirement.

The role requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work under minimal supervision in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Duties may vary by department, and additional related duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical Therapy required upon hire.
• Licensed as a Physical Therapist in Kentucky required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification required within 90 days of employment.
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions.
• Establish appropriate plans of care based on identified problems and involve patients and families according to their capabilities and preferences.
• Provide therapy interventions using standard physical therapy techniques and skills appropriate to each patient’s age and condition.
• Supervise physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel.
• Supervise PT and PTA students completing clinical rotations.
