About The Position

Texas Health Allen is seeking a passionate Physical Therapist to join their Acute Care team. This role involves providing therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment, performing procedures within the scope of the professional license, and delegating technical procedures appropriately and safely. The Physical Therapist will utilize various treatment techniques, evaluate patient progress, educate patients and families on treatment plans and home programs, and maintain patient safety. They will also communicate with physicians and other healthcare personnel regarding patient care, demonstrate competence in age-appropriate treatment, and motivate patients to participate in therapy. Texas Health Allen is an 88-bed acute-care hospital serving Collin County, specializing in robotic surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, and women's care, with over 500 physicians practicing across more than 25 specialties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Completion of a Physical Therapy program Required
  • PT - Physical Therapist Texas Physical Therapy License Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Basic leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment
  • Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license
  • Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely
  • Utilizes a variety of treatment techniques to achieve goals, if necessary
  • Determines patient response to treatment and evaluates progress (reassessment)
  • Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self management and assistive equipment
  • Maintains patient safety throughout treatment
  • Communicates with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of age appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs
  • Motivates non-compliant or unmotivated patients to participate in therapy
