The Physical Therapist will adhere to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building. This role involves following hospital and departmental policies and procedures, contributing to the overall quality of services, and staying informed about changes in policies and procedures. The primary focus is on providing comprehensive patient care assessment and treatment, ensuring evaluations and treatments are functional and according to the Standard of Practice. The therapist will use sound professional judgment in interpreting evaluation results and establishing treatment plans with realistic goals, encouraging patients and significant others in goal setting. They will also recognize and respond to changes in a patient's physiologic state, recommend the next level of care, and ensure quality patient outcomes. Supervision of support staff, accurate documentation, and meeting department financial and productivity standards are also key aspects of this role. The position involves participating in process management to optimize quality and efficiency, identifying operational opportunities, and researching evidence-based best practices. Additionally, the therapist will promote professional development and education of other health care workers, conduct in-service training programs, and stay informed about changes and developments in the physical therapy profession. Effective communication with patients, physicians, staff, and external customers is essential, as is demonstrating age/developmentally specific knowledge and skills in patient care.
