Physical Therapist - Outpatient Ortho

This role involves assessing patients, developing and initiating treatment plans, and providing direct patient care in an outpatient orthopedic setting. The Physical Therapist will be responsible for documenting findings, progress, and instructions, as well as overseeing patient care performed by assistants and technicians. The position also requires effective communication with patients, caregivers, professional colleagues, and insurance companies, and ensuring timely documentation of various reports.
Requirements
- Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Physical Therapy program.
- Current Virginia Physical Therapist license, or eligibility to obtain one before employment.
- Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Experience or interest in outpatient orthopedic care, including balance and vestibular rehabilitation.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans in an outpatient setting.
- Comfortable working independently while effectively managing a diverse patient caseload.
- Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and patient education skills.
- Proficient with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and standard Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities
- Assesses patients and develops and initiates treatment plans based on the evaluation results.
- Reviews the Physician's referral (Prescription) and the patient's condition and medical records to determine the physical therapy treatment required.
- Provides direct patient care by established protocols and patient care guidelines.
- Documents findings, progress, and instructions to patients and caregivers.
- Responsible for patient care performed by assistants and rehabilitation technicians.
- Completes a written plan of care, develops goals based on evaluation findings, and develops a comprehensive program to attain goals.
- Implements physical therapy treatment program and provides essential physical therapy treatments.
- Communicates effectively with patients/caregivers and professional colleagues, including physicians and insurance companies.
- Ensure timely documentation, including daily notes, weekly workers' compensation reports, progress reports, initial evaluations, discharge summaries, and incident reports.
