About The Position

Texas Health Frisco is seeking a passionate Physical Therapist (PT) for their Acute Care (Inpatient) department on a PRN basis. This role offers self-scheduling for work-life balance and opportunities for educational and career growth. New graduates are welcome to apply. The Acute Care Department focuses on delivering high-quality patient care in a supportive, team environment with a strong Unit Based Council (UBC). Texas Health Frisco is a 93-bed acute care hospital serving the Frisco community and surrounding areas, offering specialized services in women's health, outpatient surgery, neonatal intensive care, emergency medicine, heart and vascular care, digestive health, and bariatrics. It is a collaboration between Texas Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center, featuring a multispecialty clinic. The hospital is a Level III Trauma Center, Acute Heart Attack Ready facility, Baby-Friendly designated, and a Pathways to Excellence organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Completion of a Physical Therapy program required
  • PT – Physical Therapist; Texas Physical Therapy Licensure required upon hire
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care required and must be maintained quarterly
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English

Responsibilities

  • Performs age-appropriate patient treatment.
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  • Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license.
  • Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely.
  • Utilizes a variety of treatment techniques to achieve goals, if necessary.
  • Determines patient response to treatment and evaluates progress (reassessment).
  • Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self-management and assistive equipment.
  • Maintains patient safety throughout treatment.
  • Communicates with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues.
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs.
  • Motivates non-compliant or unmotivated patients to participate in therapy.
