About The Position

This is a full-time Physical Therapist position at Davie Medical Center in Bermuda Run, NC. The role involves providing outpatient physical therapy services, including patient evaluations, care planning, treatment, goal setting, and patient/caregiver education. The therapist will be responsible for documentation, compliance with insurance guidelines, and maintaining productivity standards. This position also requires the ability to float to different departments and/or locations as needed, meeting the requirements of the Enterprise Float Program. The role emphasizes professional development, operational improvement, and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.

Requirements

  • Obtained degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Physical Therapy License administered in the state(s) of employment.
  • Possesses and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Maintains continuing education requirements as mandated by applicable state(s) professional standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret appropriate information.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform basic office functions.
  • Complies with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Accesses protected health information (PHI) reasonably and shares information on a need-to-know basis.
  • Successfully completes all competency assessments/requirements pertaining to provision of patient care and consistent with site standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred or educational requirements commensurate with the date of graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret medical records and provider referrals.
  • Complete musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, and/or integumentary evaluations.
  • Establish patient care plans using evidence-based interventions.
  • Recommend next level of care, direct support staff, and supervise physical therapy assistants.
  • Provide treatments including education, exercise, therapeutic groups, modalities, gait, balance, coordination activities, sensory motor development, functional mobility, and transfer skills.
  • Identify and utilize appropriate assistive orthotic devices and adaptive strategies.
  • Establish functional goals with patients/caregivers and monitor outcomes.
  • Communicate with providers, clinical staff, referral sources, and other disciplines.
  • Provide education to patients and caregivers regarding diagnosis, progress, treatment, and home instruction.
  • Complete all required documentation including evaluations, progress notes, patient education, team conference reports, discharge summaries, and billing charges.
  • Comply with insurance guidelines regarding authorization and visit limitations.
  • Maintain site/department established productivity standards.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly department and ensure equipment is correctly placed and maintained.
  • Pursue professional growth through continuing education and department in-services.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Manage assigned caseload and assist with coverage as needed.
  • Meet all requirements for Level 1 of the Enterprise Float Program.
  • Demonstrate ability to practice competently across assigned departments and/or locations.
  • Adapt to varying clinical or operational environments.
